Hegemony, domination and opposition: Fluctuating Korean nationalist politics at the 2018 Winter Olympic Games in PyeongChang

This article is concerned with the contested nature of nationalism expressed through sport. The 2018 Winter Olympic Games in PyeongChang offers some useful episodes where I can investigate a different type Korean represented At this Olympics, observed four distinctive discourses on identity being displayed via winter sporting competition: 1) unified ethnic nationalism, 2) South state patriotic 3) postcolonial anti-imperialist and 4) cosmopolitan identity. variants were vying for dominant position hierarchy politics, Olympics presented platform which each nationalist group asserts legitimacy their sense nationhood. Therefore, conclude that was not simply physical contest between athletes but more importantly, field hegemonic struggle adherents nationalistic views.
